Your Companion in Childbirth
It also means that you’re the type of person who probably knows what they want from their birth experience, but you might be concerned about the lack of support out there for you.
It might bother you that you may not know the midwife attending your birth, that there’s a lack of NHS support, or you’re just nervous of birth itself.
While maternity services continue to be underfunded and overstretched, hiring a doula can help provide the continuity of care that is sadly lacking in the birth world these days.
A supported birth
I understand that everyone’s birth experience is unique, and I am committed to providing support that is respectful of different cultures and beliefs from a variety of traditions. I believe that every woman and birthing person deserves a positive and supported birth experience with non-judgmental, respectful care.
As an experienced doula I can work with your midwives and help protect your space wherever you choose to have your baby. I am here to help you feel calm, confident, and in control during your birth.
If you would like to know more about working with me then book a free 30-minute Zoom call. It’s essential that you feel comfortable with the doula you choose.
I will surround you with compassionate care so that you can experience the power and pride of giving birth on your terms with a team who support and protect you.
So, what is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during labour and childbirth to women/the birthing person and their partners.
Doulas are not medically trained, but they can provide invaluable support to the person giving birth and their families during this important time.
Doulas can offer a variety of services, including:
Providing emotional support and reassurance
Helping you to cope with pain and discomfort
Offering practical assistance, such as massage, positioning, and breathing techniques
Advocating for the parent’s wishes during labour and birth
Providing information and support to the birthing partner
Helping the person giving birth and their partner to bond with their new baby
They are also more likely to report feeling satisfied with their birth experience.
Why choose me to support you during your pregnancy and labour?
The birthing world has been a part of my life since I had my first baby nine years ago, and as a result of that experience I trained as a hypnobirthing teacher.
I’ve been helping families on their hypnobirthing journey since 2017, which in turn led me to the world of doula work.
I decided to qualify as a doula in 2020 during the first lockdown, and I’ve not looked back. Now I am a fully qualified, recognised birth and postnatal doula with Doula UK after training on the Side by Side Doula training course with Leila Baker, one of the only fully inclusive doula training courses in the UK.
As a part of my ongoing development, I have taken LGBTQ+ training with The Queer Birth Club, Cultural Competency training with Vanisha Virgo, Homeopathy for birth workers with Danica Apolline and I am currently training to provide 3 Step Rewind birth trauma therapy with Alex Heath at the Traumatic Birth Recovery school.
If you’re looking for a positive, supported birth by someone who knows that no-one should suffer during this amazing time, then I might be the doula for you.
