Empowering Your Birth Experience

Hypnobirthing – your journey begins here.

People have been giving birth for as long as there have been human beings, it’s something that you can just ‘do’ right?

Then why are there so many nightmare stories about birth/so many people having such terrible birthing experiences?

A combination of reduced maternity services, midwives leaving the profession & a wealth of scare stories about birth mean that people are more scared of giving birth than ever.

No one should have to suffer during their labour so thousands of people have turned to hypnobirthing to help them get the birth experience they want.

The best thing we've done

We saw Catrine on the lead-up to our daughter’s birth. She was amazing.

So calm, understanding and knowledgeable!

As a two mummy family, we felt listened to and understood. She was there all the way through, during with kind thoughtfulness and after with advice and reassurance.

We are so grateful to have worked with her during that precious time. Thank you for everything Catrine.

FAQ

Is it only Hypnobirthing you teach on the course or do we learn about pregnancy & birth in general?

Absolutely. I will give you all the information you need to be able to navigate your pregnancy, birth & even maternity services themselves.

Knowing how birth works, what your rights are and what you are likely to experience can help you feel more confident and able to trust the process.

Birth can feel a bit like a run away train if you’ve got no idea what to expect, so we cover as much as possible on the course.

The added bonus is you get loads of useful, practical hypno tools to help you during pregnancy and birth.

Is Hypnobirthing mind control like on the TV?
Not at all, there are no pocket watches or ‘look into my eyes’ moments, you are completely in control of yourself at all times.

To be honest the hypnosis part of hypnobirthing is completely self lead, you learn the theory, tools and exercises to use during your labour so that you can allow your body to do what it knows how to do without your mind getting in the way.

It’s nice and straight forward, just takes a bit of practise.

Do you support LGBTQ+ families?

Absolutely I’ve supported same sex couples and have taken specific training to better support families who identify as LGBTQ+.

It’s something I’m hugely passionate about and know how difficult it can be to navigate, an already biased, maternity system.

Knowing your rights and some of the pitfalls by taking an inclusive birth prep course can really help & I would love to help you.

However, if you would prefer to work with an LGBTQ+ birth worker I can signpost you to some wonderful teachers.

When is a good time to start a hypnobirthing course?

You can start anytime after your 12 week scan but most people like to start after they’ve reached 21 weeks.

The course itself is 4 weeks so as long as you’ve got time to complete the course before your due date, it’s not too late to learn all you need to have your compassionate birth experience.

Do you teach birth partners too?

Absolutely! It’s actually as important for birth partners to feel prepared as it is for the birthing person. I’ll set you up as a team so you can work together because nobody in the birth room will know you better than your partner.

It can feel a bit scary as a birth partner but after you’ve done my course, partners say they feel more confident now they’ve got some tools in their tool kit to help you.

Have a little read of this testimonial from birth partner Holly about her experience supporting her wife during birth.

What qualifications do you have?

I’ve been teaching hypnobirthing for over 5 years, originally training with Babies in Waiting before learning to teach Way of the Koi Compassionate Hypnobirthing with Midwife Nicola Nelson.

I am also a fully qualified, recognised birth & postnatal doula with Doula UK having trained with Leila Baker on the Side by Side Doula training course, one of the only fully inclusive doula training courses in the UK.

I’ve been a doula for 2 years, working with many families to get the birth they really hoped they would have.

As a part of my ongoing development I have taken LGBTQ+ training with The Queer Birth Club, cultural competency training with Vanisha Virgo & I am currently training to provide 3-step rewind birth trauma therapy with Alex Heath at the Traumatic Birth Therapy school.

How much does it cost?

There are three options:

– My online group course is £280 for you and your birth partner, 4 x 2 hour weekly live sessions on zoom or

– One to one online courses as above but with the benefit of flexibility with dates and more time with me costs £380 or

– My short one to one basics course which is one 3 hour course and costs £160. This covers your basics and is useful if you are already taking another antenatal class like NCT.

All prices include a place for you and your birth partner.

CLIENTS ARE SAYING

“skills helped me to stay calm”

Catrine was such an excellent teacher and really helped us understand all the different aspects of birth, from the different types of breathing and relaxation exercises, through to ensuring we knew our rights and writing an appropriate birth plan.

The skills I learned really helped me to stay calm and positive while I was in labour, but also helped me deal with my anxiety as a new mother.
